Any U.S. individual or corporate entity can apply to become a Participant at CX Futures Exchange, L.P. and thereby start trading the weather. Once you open a new CX trading account, you will receive $10 in your account that can be used to try trading immediately.
You will need to provide certain personal information including your date of birth and social security number. This is similar to what is required to open an account with any other financial institution. If you know your information or have it handy, the application process can be completed in minutes.
If you wish to trade using more than the initial $10, you can add funds to your account at any time by initiating a request to transfer funds from your bank account. The funds will be processed as an ACH transaction (electronic funds transfer). The funds will typically clear in your trading account within 2-3 business days, though often the funds can be made available for you to trade on the same business day.
